These qualifications are aimed at improving the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of middle managers / aspiring middle managers.

ILM Level 5 qualifications

Management

  • The ILM Level 5 Award in Management aims to give practising or potential middle managers the foundation for their formal development in this role by developing basic middle management skills and assisting participants in gaining the basic knowledge required at this level.
  • The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Management covers the content within the Award as well as building on the content, broadening skills and knowledge in a flexible and practical way.
  • The ILM Level 5 Diploma in Management aims to give practising managers the widest choice for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by developing a very wide range of basic middle management skills and assisting participants in gaining the comprehensive knowledge required at this level. It builds on the ILM Level 5 Award and Certificate in Management, and is more suited to the practising manager, due to the more challenging demands of the programme.

 

Leadership and Management

  • The ILM Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management Skills aims to give practising or potential middle managers the foundation for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by developing leadership and management skills relevant to this level.
  • The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills aims to give practising or potential middle managers the foundation for their formal development in this role by developing more comprehensive leadership and management skills than with the Award.

 

Leadership

  • The ILM Level 5 Award in Leadership aims to develop an understanding of the individual’s own leadership capability relevant to this level.
  • The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership aims to develop both understanding and application of leadership skills using action learning, relevant to this level.
